How clairvoyant. I am not at all surprised that he's at the Masters this week but slightly disappointed. In the end, Tiger sacrificed nothing in his career over the entire sordid episode that seemed perfectly timed for him not to miss even one major. Yes, he lost scores of sponsors, his carefully crafted reputation, $50 million (or whatever he had to pay Elin to stay), but not one major missed. How convenient.

I don't know if I buy the notion that he married Elin to become more marketable. Though it's certainly an interesting and seemingly original take. I've always wondered why any famous athletes and movie stars get married in their 20s. Can't they wait? Though has it hurt Jeter's marketability that he stayed single well into his 30s? I doubt it. It would be interesting to do a study comparing famous married stars vs. unmarried stars vs. divorced/cheating stars and see if there is any difference in the dollars.
