I came across this pair of brass (golf) ball molds a few weeks ago on eBay and thought they were pretty cool:
Some guy in PA was selling them and said they were probably 50-75 years old and solid brass in excellent condition. I think they went for about $70, which seems a bit steep for a small slice of history. In any event, a bit of online research reveals that there are a couple of contemporary products out there that harken back to the days of two-piece construction when no one minded that golf balls had a seam. You can check them out here:
1. The chocolate truffle golf ball mold: http://www.anoccasionalchocolate.com/golf-ball-chocolate-mold.html
2. The classic paperweight: http://www.golfballtool.com/ballmold.htm
#2 even refers to “ball mold accessories” in the title of their online store. I think they may have missed the point of that business school lesson in niche marketing. I just hope I never have to contend with ball mold.
